CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 16, 2025) – The ETSU men's tennis team will begin its defense of its SoCon Tournament Championship this week in Chattanooga. The Bucs, who earned the No. 1 seed this year, will open tournament play with a match against No. 8 seed The Citadel on Thursday morning from the Champions Club in Chattanooga. First serve between the Bucs and Bulldogs is set for 8:30 a.m.
 
ETSU enters play in Chattanooga riding a four-match winning streak. The Bucs, who are 12-6 overall and finished the league slate with a 6-1 SoCon record, have bounced back from a 1-4 start of the season to win 11 of its next 13 matches. Should the Bucs win two matches at the tournament this week, it'll mark the most wins in a season for the Bucs since 2022 when they won 20.
 
The Bucs enter postseason play with a 66-36 record in singles and a 23-23 mark in doubles. Five of the six Bucs have won 10 more singles tilts this spring, while the tandem of Francisco Lamas and Juan Andres Listo have been ETSU's top doubles team winning nine matches, including five of their six tilts in league play.
 
The Blue and Gold have been dominant in the SoCon Tournament over the years. This has been especially true since ETSU re-joined the league in 2015. Since that point, the Bucs have won every conference tournament held and boasts a 26-0 record. Counting their time in the Atlantic Sun, the Bucs have won 51 consecutive matches in the conference tournament. ETSU's last loss in a conference tournament came in the 2006 Atlantic Sun semifinals to Belmont, 4-2.
