GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 7, 2025) – Having won four matches in a row, the ETSU men's tennis team will now turn its attention to Southern Conference play when it visits UNC Greensboro on Saturday. First serve between the Buccaneers and Spartans is set for 1 p.m.
ETSU has rebounded after beginning the season 1-4. The Bucs have earned wins over Lipscomb, UNC Asheville, Belmont and Tennessee Tech to get above the .500 mark (5-4). Counting the results from the fall season,
Pedro Cressoni leads ETSU with 13 singles victories. Newcomers
Carlos Gonzales and
Juan Andres Listo aren't far behind with 12 victories themselves. Additionally, Listo was named the SoCon's Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday for his wins against Asheville and Belmont.
The Spartans currently have a record of 4-6. UNCG, which has earned wins against USC Sumter, Belmont Abbey, Longwood and Coastal Carolina this spring, already has a conference match under their belt with a 7-0 loss to Furman on February 28.
The all-time series between the Bucs and Spartans has favored ETSU. The Bucs have won 14 straight matches against UNCG with the Spartans' last win against ETSU coming in 2001. Additionally, ETSU will look to maintain its dominance against conference opponents. The Bucs have won 15 straight matches against SoCon foes with their last loss coming against Chattanooga on March 24, 2023.
