CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (March 29, 2025) – After suffering its SoCon loss of the season on Thursday, the ETSU men's tennis team bounced back with a 6-1 road victory over longtime rival Chattanooga on Saturday afternoon. Saturday's victory improves ETSU's record to 9-6 overall and 3-1 in league action.
The Bucs began Saturday's contest well winning all three of the doubles matches. It marks just the second time this season that the Bucs have won all three doubles tilts in a single match with the other coming against UNC Greensboro.
Moving onto singles, the Bucs were just as good winning five of six contests.
Peter Kalocsai and
Martin Garcia-Ripoll pushed the ETSU advantage to 3-0 before
Carlos Gonzales clinched the win for the Blue and Gold with a 7-5, 6-1 win. Gonzales, who improved to 11-3 this season with Saturday's win, was followed by victories from
Pedro Cressoni and
Francisco Lamas to finish off the day. ETSU is now 18-2 against Chattanooga since 2001.
