JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 26, 2025) – Following its spring break trip to Florida, the ETSU men's tennis team will return to SoCon play this weekend with matches at Mercer and Chattanooga. The Bucs will face the Bears at 2 p.m. on Thursday before traveling to take on the Mocs at Noon on Saturday.
ETSU enters this week's action with an 8-5 record in 2025. The Bucs dropped a 4-0 decision at No. 65 FAU last Wednesday. However, prior to that loss to the Owls, ETSU had reeled off seven straight wins after beginning the season 1-4.
Like ETSU, the Bears are undefeated in league play so far this spring (1-0) with their win coming at Chattanooga (4-3) last Sunday. Overall, Mercer is 6-6 this season with its other victories coming against James Madison, Queens, North Florida, Army and College of Charleston.
The Mocs, meanwhile, are 10-9 this season, including a 1-2 mark in league action. Chattanooga has been especially good at home with a 7-2 record. Six of UTC's 10 wins this season have been 7-0 shutouts.
The Bucs are a combined 37-3 all-time against Mercer and Chattanooga. ETSU is 20-1 against Mercer with the Bears' last win coming in 2023. As for the series against the Mocs, the Bucs are 17-2 against their in-state rivals with their last setback also coming in 2023.
