AWENDAW, S.C. (Mar. 23, 2025) -
The ETSU men's golf team wrapped the first round of competition at The Hootie at Bulls Bay with a 1-under 287 on Sunday, led by Ben Carberry and Joshua Pritchett with a pair of 1-under 71s.
Both golfers' rounds started off with promise. Teeing off on the par-5 10th, Pritchett sank a birdie and Carberry eagled, his first of two in the round. Carberry responded on the front nine with an eagle on the par-5 second hole and a birdie on the fifth, while Pritchett snagged two birdies in the final four holes to get both golfers to 1-under par, tied for 22nd.
Gavin Tiernan handed in an even-par 72 with five birdies, including the first three holes of the front nine. Yannick Malik finished round one with a 1-over 73, and Kristian Bressum hit a 3-over 75 on day one. Ben Oberholzer, competing as an individual, posted an even-par 72, his lowest round of the spring.
As a team, the Bucs are tied for 12th with Virginia Tech. They will tee off on the 10th with Kent State and Rutgers on Monday at 9:45 a.m. for round two.
