MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (Mar. 16, 2025) - In challenging conditions, the ETSU men's golf team shot a 7-over par 295 in the first round of the General James Hackler Championship at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club on Sunday.
After teeing off on the 10th hole, Kristian Bressum was bogey-free and 3-under on the back nine before a double-bogey on the par-four 1st knocked him backward. He recovered to finish the day even-par, tied for 24th.
Yannick Malik had a much tougher start to the day with two bogeys and a double in his first four holes but fired off three birdies in his next four and played even-par after the turn to finish with a 2-over 74, level with fellow Buccaneer
Gavin Tiernan.
Ben Carberry posted a 3-over 75, and
Joshua Pritchett turned in a 4-over 76 on the first day.
As a team, ETSU is tied with Nevada for 11th after 18 holes. #1 Auburn leads the field at 10-under with Duke three shots back.
Scoring conditions are expected to be more favorable when ETSU tees off Monday morning at 8:05 on the 10th hole alongside College of Charleston and Nevada.
