JOHN'S ISLAND, S.C. (Feb. 3, 2025) – A three-hour fog delay wasn't going to slow down the ETSU men's golf team.
After sitting around waiting for the fog to lift in the morning hours at The Golf Club at Briar's Creek, the Buccaneers were able to put together a strong showing on day one of the Battle at Briar's Creek.
With first round play scheduled to begin at 8:45 a.m., play finally got underway three hours later where ETSU recorded a 5-under-par 283 in round one and found themselves in fifth place.
However, the Blue & Gold were making a move when round two was called due to darkness.
With players sitting on holes No. 3-6, ETSU was tied for the lowest round at two-under and moved into a tie for third with West Virginia at seven-under-par on the team leaderboard.
Tournament host College of Charleston and NC State were sitting atop the team leaderboard at 10-under when the horn sounded late on Monday. Clemson, the round one leader at 10-under 278, dropped to fifth after shooting four-over through the first three holes in round two.
Buccaneer newcomer
Kristian Bressum was tied for the lead when play was called Monday night. Bressum is one of five golfers at four-under. After posting a 4-under 68 in round one, Bressum is even-par through his first six holes in round two.
Fellow newcomer and University of Arizona transfer
Yannick Malik is tied for 11th at two-under. Malik fired a 1-under 71 in round one and is one-under through the first six holes in round two. Redshirt senior
