JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 25, 2025) – The ETSU men's tennis team will continue its four-match home stand this week with tilts against UNC Asheville on Wednesday and Belmont on Saturday. Wednesday's contest against the Bulldogs is set to get underway at 2:30 p.m. and Saturday's will begin at Noon.
ETSU enters this week's action with a 2-5 record so far this spring. The Bucs picked up their second victory of the season on Sunday as they knocked off Lipscomb, 5-2. A Buc that has been playing well recently has been
Pedro Cressoni as the junior from Brazil is riding a four-match winning streak in singles coming into Wednesday's match.
UNC Asheville comes into Wednesday's contest in Johnson City with a 6-1 record. The Bulldogs are 5-0 in matches played in Asheville. Four of Asheville's six victories have been against Division II opponents and its two Division I wins have been against Tennessee Tech (5-2) and Davidson (4-3).
Belmont is currently 4-6 in 2025 with its four wins coming against Cumberland, Austin Peay, Alcorn State and Northern Illinois. Despite being under the .500 mark, the Bruins have faced some stiff competition this spring with matches against No. 16 Tennessee, No. 34 Vanderbilt, No. 51 Ole Miss, and No. 61 DePaul.
ETSU is 3-1 all-time against Asheville. The Bulldogs notched their first ever win over the Bucs last season with a 4-1 victory. As for the series against Belmont, the Buccaneers are 9-1 over the last decade against the Bruins. Belmont's lone win over the Blue and Gold during this stretch was in 2006, 4-2.
