JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 20, 2025) – The ETSU men's tennis team is prepping for a busy weekend ahead as it will travel to Elon on Friday and then return home to host Lipscomb on Sunday. Friday's match is set to get underway 2 p.m., while Sunday's is set for a 1 p.m. first serve.
ETSU enters Friday's clash with Elon with a 1-3 record this spring. In its last match, the Bucs dropped a 6-1 contest on the road at Gardner-Webb. ETSU, which defeated Presbyterian 6-1 late last month for its first win, have been led by the duo of
Francisco Lamas and
Pedro Cressoni, who are currently tied for the team-lead with two singles victories each this spring.
Elon will be in search of its first win of the season on Friday against ETSU. The Phoenix are 0-4 in 2025 with the losses coming against VCU, No. 16 Tennessee, Penn and Charlotte.
Lipscomb has compiled a record of 4-4 so far this season. The Bisons have victories over Cumberland, Southern Indiana, Eastern Illinois, and Alabama A&M. In their four victories, Lipscomb has been dominant with three 7-0 shutouts and the fourth finishing as a 6-1 final score.
The Bucs have enjoyed historical success against both Elon and Lipscomb. ETSU is 6-1 all-time against the Phoenix and 12-0 when matched up with the Bisons. Elon did notch its first win against the Bucs last season, 4-1. Sunday will be the first match between ETSU and Lipscomb in three years with the last ending with a 5-2 win for the Bucs.
