BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (Feb. 17, 2025) – The ETSU men's tennis team will be looking for its second straight win over a Big South opponent on Tuesday as it visits Gardner-Webb in non-conference action. First serve between the Buccaneers and Runnin' Bulldogs is set for 11 a.m.
ETSU's record currently sits at 1-2 on the 2025 season. The Bucs' lone win came on the road at Presbyterian back on January 29. In ETSU's other two matches, the Blue and Gold faced off against power conference foes in Clemson and No. 4 Wake Forest.
Gardner-Webb has already played nine matches this spring. After dropping their season-opening contest to Stetson, 4-3, the Runnin' Bulldogs have reeled off eight consecutive victories. GWU knocked off fellow SoCon schools Chattanooga (4-3), UNC Greensboro (6-1), Mercer (6-1) and Furman (4-3) during this stretch.
The Bucs and Runnin' Bulldogs have met a total of five times over the years. ETSU shut out the Runnin' Bulldogs in each of its four wins, but Gardner-Webb knocked off the Bucs, 4-1, least February in Johnson City. Furthermore, the Bucs are 28-3 all-time against the current members of the Big South Conference.
