Football adds 11 players during early signing period

ETSU adds nine high schoolers and two JuCo players for 2026.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 9, 2025) – The ETSU football team announced that it signed 11 student-athletes during the Early Signing Period late last week. The newest group of Buccaneers are defensive back Donya Borden (Cincinnati, Ohio), wide receiver Will Hagelgan (Snellville, Ga.), defensive back Jaden Haywood (Ooltewah, Tenn.), wide receiver Aydan Hogan (Summerville, S.C.), defensive back Tamajh Mitchell (Jacksonville, Fla.), quarterback Kaleb Narcisse (Marietta, Ga.), tight end Chase Norman (Knoxville, Tenn.), wide receiver Jayden Scott (Fort Mill, S.C.), offensive lineman Harry Simpson (Pfafftown, N.C.), punter Luke Stewart (Hattiesburg, Miss.), and running back Chelton Swafford (Goodlettsville, Tenn.). Overall, nine high school players and two junior college players signed with the Bucs last week.
   
Donya Borden |Defensive Back | 6-0 | 200 | Cincinnati, Ohio | Princeton High School | Missouri Valley College | Independence Community College
·      Borden spent last season at Independence Community College.
·      In his lone season at ICC, Borden totaled 48 tackles (10 for loss)
·      Broke up four passes and intercepted two more.
·      Primarily played safety and nickelback for the Pirates.
 
Will Hagelgan | Wide Receiver | 6-0 | 170 | Snellville, Ga. | Brookwood High School
·      As a senior at Brookwood High School, Hagelgan totaled 518 yards of offense.
·      Caught five touchdowns and averaged 25.3 yards per reception in 2025.
·      Spent time as a quarterback as a senior as well.
·      Named a top performer at the Prep Redzone's Southern Brawl event in February.
 
Jaden Haywood | Defensive Back | 5-11 | 165 | Ooltewah, Tenn. | East Hamilton High School
·      A semi-finalist for the Mr. Football award in Class 5A.
·      Played both running back and defensive back at East Hamilton High School.
·      Named to the Class 5A Coaches' All-State Team in 2024.
·      As a defensive back, Haywood totaled 70 tackles, four interceptions, and broke up 27 passes in his high school career.
 
Aydan Hogan | Wide Receiver | 6-1 | 170 | Summerville, S.C. | Northwood Academy
·      Won the SCISA 4A State Championship this season at Northwood Academy
·      Went over 100 yards receiving and caught three touchdowns in the state title game.
·      Surpassed the century mark in receiving yards five times in 2025 and finished his senior campaign.
·      Totaled 186 catches and 2,825 receiving yards as a high schooler with 23 touchdowns. Averaged 15.2 yards per catch and 80.7 receiving yards per game.
 
Tamajh Mitchell | Defensive Back | 5-10 | 157 | Jacksonville, Fla. | Mandarin High School
·      Helped his team win a district championship in 2025.
·      Had an interception returned for a touchdown this season and returned a punt for a score in 2024.  
·      Received Honorable Mention All-District honors from the Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) last season.
·      Totaled 17 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and seven interceptions at Mandarin High School.
 
Kaleb Narcisse | Quarterback | 6-1 | 210 | Marietta, Ga. | Kell High School
·      Helped lead his team to a regional championship, an 11-2 record, and a spot in the final four of the GHSA Class AAAA State Championship.
·      As a senior so far, Narcisse has thrown for 2,158 yards and 20 touchdowns for Kell High School. For his high school career to date, Narcisse has thrown for over 4,300 yards and 42 touchdowns and is averaging 15.2 yards per completion.
·      Completing 63.8 percent of his passes in high school, Narcisse also helps in the running game with over 800 yards rushing in his high school career and nine touchdowns. Also is averaging nearly six yards a carry when asked to carry the ball.
·      Also committed to play baseball at ETSU (pitcher/outfielder).
 
Chase Norman | Tight End | 6-4 | 220 | Knoxville, Tenn. | Gibbs High School
·      Named one of the top 100 high school players in the state of Tennessee prior to the start of this season by Prep Redzone.
·      Successful in the classroom with a 4.3 GPA.
·      Named to All-Knox County Honorable Mention Team by Knox Focus.
·      Received an invitation to compete in the Rivalry Showcase All Star Game.
 
Jayden Scott | Wide Receiver |5-11 | 175 | Fort Mill, S.C. | Nation Ford High School
·      Three-year starter for Nation Ford High School.
·      As a senior, Scott racked up 79 receptions and 1,356 receiving yards.
·      Scored 16 total touchdowns, 15 of which were receiving.
·      Averaged 123.3 yards per game and 17.2 yards per catch.
 
Harry Simpson | Offensive Line |6-4 | 285 | Pfafftown, N.C. | Reagan High School
·      Central Piedmont All-Conference selection in 2025.
·      Three-year starter on varsity.
·      Earned the top offensive lineman award at the 2025 Carolinas Coaches' Combine.
·      Selected to compete in the 2025 Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.
 
Luke Stewart | Punter | 6-2 | 180 | Hattiesburg, Miss. | Oak Grove High School | Southern Miss | Jones College
·      Stewart played last season at Jones College. Spent his first season out of high school at Southern Miss in 2024.
·      Served as the primary punter for the Bobcats last year. Averaged 39.8 yards per punt and 15 of his 37 punts were downed inside the 20-yard line.
·      Named First Team All-MACCC Kicker/Punter last season.
·      Earned Second Team All-State honors during his senior season at Oak Grove High School.
 
Chelton Swafford | Running Back | 5-10 | 197 | Goodlettsville, Tenn. | Beech High School
·      Ran for over 2,000 yards in his high school career.
·      Named Sumner County Offensive Player of the Year in 2024.
·      As a junior, Swafford averaged less than 12 touches per game but still totaled 1,186 yards and 17 touchdowns.
·      In 2023 and 2024, Swafford totaled 30 touchdowns, 2,281 yards and averaged 7.2 yards per carry.
