Sophia Gambini was selected as the Women's Golf of the Week for her first collegiate accolade.
Sophia Gambini captured the individual title at the Terrier collegiate, guiding the team to a first place finish over conference opponents Wofford, Western Carolina and The Citadel. Gambini's win was the first of her collegiate career, just four appearances into her career. Her three rounds (Rd. 1 - 72(E), Rd. 2 - 73(+1), Rd. 3 - 72(E)) were three of her top five rounds so far this season. Gambini's complete score of 217(+1) was the best by any Buc so far in the fall slate. She birdied nine holes and broke even on 33 of the holes, remaining at bogey or under on all 54.
Gambini and the rest of the women's golf team return to action in Febuary to kick off the spring slate of competition at the UNCG Advances Golf Partners Collegiate, hosted by UNC Greensboro in Palm City, Fla. over Feb. 9-11.
