ETSU Athletics Shine Academically in 2024 Fall Semester

All 17 teams had a collective GPA of 3.0 or higher

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.  (Jan. 9, 2025) – With the spring semester fast approaching, the ETSU Athletic Department would like to recognize the success of the Buccaneers in the classroom last fall. Collectively, the Bucs had a 3.385 grade point average, and all 17 teams had a collective GPA of over 3.0.

"I am extremely proud of what our students achieved in the Fall semester," said ETSU Associate AD for Student-Athlete Success Dr. Jessica Thomas. "This semester was not without its challenges, but our student-athletes exemplified the meaning of resilience. For the first time since at least the 2006-2007 academic year, every team earned a 3.0 or better semester GPA.  Each team set various academic goals at the beginning of each semester, and every single team met or exceeded those goals in some capacity.  I look forward to seeing everything they will accomplish academically and athletically this Spring."

Furthermore, 50 Bucs had a 4.0 GPA, 135 others were named to the Dean's List (3.5 GPA or higher), and 87 more were named to the Academic Honor Roll (3.0-3.49 GPA). Overall, 272 ETSU student-athletes posted a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester.

Women's Tennis had the highest GPA of any program (3.763), while men's tennis posted the highest team GPA (3.653) among men's programs.
