SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Sept. 23, 2024) – ETSU redshirt sophomore kicker
Ewan Johnson was named the Southern Conference's Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday afternoon by the conference office. It is the first weekly honor in Johnson's career, and he is the first Buc to be named SoCon Special Teams Player of the Week since former Buc Tyler Keltner earned the same accolade on October 10, 2022.
Johnson played a part in all six of ETSU's scoring drives in Saturday's 34-14 victory at Elon. The redshirt sophomore kicker converted on all four of his extra point tries, while also making a pair of field goals to help the Blue & Gold knock off the Phoenix. Johnson's field goal makes on Saturday came from 30 yards and 25 yards, respectively.
With his efforts kicking on Saturday, Johnson improves to 5-for-6 on field goals this season. His field goal percentage of 83.3 is tied for the best among SoCon kickers.
Johnson and the rest of the Bucs will open SoCon play this Saturday when they play at The Citadel. Kickoff for that game is set for 2 p.m.
