BLACKSBURG, Va. (Sept. 20, 2024) – ETSU redshirt sophomore
Nolan Pedota paced the ETSU men's cross country team on Friday morning at the Hokie Invitational held at Buford Meredith Cross Country Course.
Pedota turned in his best collegiate performance as he placed 25th with a time of 25:30.8, both marking personal bests for the Buccaneer distance runner. The Tuscaloosa, Ala. native shaved 47 seconds off his previous best 8K mark, which came two weeks ago in Spartanburg (26:17.5). In addition, the last time Pedota ran this course back in 2022, the ETSU runner placed 96th with a time of 28:29.6.
Due to sickness and injuries hitting the men's program, the Bucs only ran five guys on Friday. Joining Pedota across the finish line were
Colin Everett (26th, 25:41.6),
Dane Sullins (27th, 25:42.1),
Ben Kenner (28th, 25:42.9) and
Conner Overly (32nd, 26:30.4). The times by each Buccaneer runner were new personal best 8K marks.
Virginia Tech's Nicholas Kipchirchir won the race with a time of 22:41.9. The Hokies made it a clean sweep as they captured the team title with 15 points.
Overall, ETSU, Virginia Tech, Radford and Concord made up the teams competing in the event on Friday.
