CARLSBAD, Calif. (May 29, 2024) – ETSU redshirt senior
Mats Ege was named PING First Team All-American as the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced its 2024 All-Americans live on the Golf Channel Wednesday.
Ege, who received PING All-American Honor Mention accolades last year, becomes the sixth Buccaneer in program history to earn First Team All-American honors. Ege is the first ETSU player to land on the first team since Rhys Davies won three straight from 2005-07.
Ege is coming off one of the most decorated seasons in program history which saw him garner SoCon Player of the Year honors for a second straight season, become a finalist for the Haskins Award and named to the Ben Hogan Watch List. Ege tallied three wins on the season as he captured medalist honors at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, Wake Forest Invitational and SoCon Championship. The Buccaneer leader played in all 13 tournaments for the Blue & Gold and produced a school-record scoring average of 69.25. Of the 40 total rounds played, Ege recorded 33 sub-par rounds and played the holes at 86-under-par. Ege registered nine top-10 finishes, while he also tied for 18th at the NCAA Championship.
