Play suspended at Chapel Hill Regional

Final round to resume Wednesday at 7:30 a.m.; Bucs lead by three shots

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (May 14, 2024) – Due to all the rain covering the region on Tuesday, final round play at the Chapel Hill Men's Golf Regional has been suspended. The third round is scheduled to resume Wednesday morning at 7:30 a.m. from UNC's Finley Golf Course.

The four teams and 10 individuals were able to complete second round play early on Tuesday, while ETSU was one of nine teams to begin final round play as the third round began at 10 a.m. However, after two stoppages of play – the final coming at 11:47 a.m. – the committee suspended play for the remainder of the day around 2 p.m.

The Bucs, who have all five of their golfers on the course, are two-under on the round and sit atop the team leaderboard at 23-under-par. ETSU's golfers were on holes 2-thru-5 when play was suspended.

Clemson sits three shots back and host UNC is four strokes behind the Blue & Gold. Georgia Tech and Baylor are tied for fourth at 11-under.

The Bucs are grouped with Clemson and UNC.

The top five teams of the regional and low individual from a non-advancing team will advance to the NCAA Championship. ETSU will be looking to play in its fourth straight NCAA Championship with this year's field set to play at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa from May 24-29 in Carlsbad, Calif.

Last year, ETSU finished tied for fifth at the Las Vegas Regional where the Bucs defeated Northwestern in a playoff to secure the final spot to the NCAA Championship. In 2022, the Blue & Gold advanced out of the Columbus Regional, while ETSU won the Cle Elum Regional in 2021. Overall, the Bucs have appeared in 20 NCAA Championships in program history.
