AUGUSTA, Ga. (April 6, 2024) – ETSU's Mats Ege is within striking distance as he enters Sunday's final round of the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational at Forest Hill Golf Club. Ege is four shots off the lead at 4-under-par 140 following the first 36 holes.
 
On Saturday, Ege went 71-69 to move him near the leaders and in search of his fifth career win. Following his 1-under 71 in the opening round, Ege played his final six holes in round two at three-under to jump seven spots up the leaderboard into a tie for fifth. Over the 36 holes, Ege carded one eagle, nine birdies and 20 pars.
 
The field is chasing Illinois' Jackson Buchanan as he went 70-66 and is at 8-under-par 136 after day one in Georgia. Buchanan takes a three-shot lead into Sunday as Mercer's Tobias Jonsson, Texas' Christiaan Maas and North Carolina's Dylan Menante are tied for second at 5-under-par 139.
 
As a team, No. 1 North Carolina sits atop the team leaderboard at 16-under-par 560 and lead tournament Augusta and No. 18 Texas by 10 shots. No. 32 Oklahoma State is in fourth at 3-under-par 573 and No. 17 Illinois is in fifth place at 2-under-par 574.
 
The 19th-ranked Buccaneers are in seventh place at 3-over-par 579.
 
Algot Kleen is tied for 21st at 1-over-par 145, while Matty Dodd-Berry – who led the Blue & Gold with 10 birdies on Saturday – is tied for 25th at 2-over-par 146.
 
The Bucs will be the first group out on Sunday as ETSU tees off at 8:30 a.m., and will be grouped with Central Florida and South Florida.
