SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 5, 2024) – The Southern Conference announced its Athletes of the Month for March on Friday and ETSU's
Dimitri Badra and
Jason Bowers received the accolade for their respective sports.
Badra, a redshirt senior from Maracay, Venezuela, posted a combined 7-3 record between singles and doubles play in March for the Buccaneer men's tennis program. Badra went undefeated (5-0) in singles – all at the No. 1 spot – and helped guide ETSU to three wins during the month. Badra, who went 3-0 against SoCon teams, also posted a pair of victories against No. 46 FAU and 69
th-ranked Stetson.
Bowers competed in two meets for the Buccaneer men's track and field program in March. The Buccaneer newcomer got things started in the 49er Classic where he won the 800m with a personal best time of 1:51.48 and ran a leg in the 4x800m, which won gold. Bowers had a split of 1:51.21 in the relay. Bowers opened the 49er Classic with a second-place showing in the 1500m as he finished with a time of 3:46.82. Bowers finished the month with an impressive showing at the Raleigh Relays where he finished eighth with a personal best time of 13:42.68, marking the top SoCon time in the event since 2019. The mark also ranks top 10 in the East Region and top 15 in the NCAA.
