Men’s Tennis wins their 13th SoCon Tournament Championship on Saturday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.  (April 20, 2024) – The top-seeded ETSU men's tennis team captured its 13th Southern Conference Tournament Championship on Saturday afternoon with a 4-2 win over Samford. ETSU, now 13-9 on the season, won nine straight matches en route to capturing the SoCon's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

It looked like early on that Samford might get the early advantage on the Bucs as they won the first doubles match that completed. However, ETSU's teams of Dimitri Badra/Adam Nagoudi and Pedro Cressoni/Alberto Garcia both won their matches to clinch the first point of the contest for the Bucs.

The Bulldogs won a pair of points back in singles action. However, the Bucs got those points back and then some from Lucas Britez, Peter Kalocsai and Dimitri Badra. Badra, who was named the Most Outstanding Player for the tournament after going a combined 5-0 (2-0 singles, 3-0 doubles), clinched the match for ETSU.

In addition to his singles win, Kalocsai won the Pinnacle Award as the student-athlete with the highest GPA on the championship-winning team.
