AWENDAW, S.C. (March 26, 2024) – The three-peat was not in the books for the ETSU men's golf team.
Looking for its third straight title at the Hootie at Bulls Bay, the Buccaneers finished tied for sixth, while
Algot Kleen finished tied for ninth as final round play concluded on Tuesday at Bulls Bay Golf Club.
Kleen, who recorded his fifth top-10 finish of the season, totaled a 54-hole score of 3-under-par 213 after carding an even-par 72 on Tuesday. Kleen totaled 39 pars and nine birdies for the tournament.
Mats Ege led the Blue & Gold on Tuesday with a 3-under 69 and finished right behind his Buccaneer teammate in a tie for 14th at 1-under-par 215. Ege totaled five of his 12 birdies in the final round to move 21 spots up the leaderboard on the final day. Ege also tied for the lowest par-4 scoring for the tournament at three-under.
South Carolina's Frankie Harris, Missouri's Jack Lundin and LSU's Jay Mendell all earned co-medalist honors as they finished the tournament at 6-under-par 210.
As a team, No. 15 ETSU – who had won the last two years at Bulls Bay Golf Club – finished tied for sixth with Missouri at 1-over-par 865. LSU passed New Mexico for the team win as the 37th-ranked Tigers shot a 1-under 287 to finish 15-under-par 849. The 19th-ranked Lobos were 7-over today and finished runner-up at 9-under-par 855.
Matty Dodd-Berry finished tied for 28th at 2-over-par 218, while
Remi Chartier – who carded an even-par 72 in the finale – finished tied for 45th at 6-over-par 222.
The Bucs will make their final tune up before the Southern Conference Championships as ETSU gears up for the Augusta Haskins Invitational, which will be held April 6-7 in Augusta, Ga.
