AWENDAW, S.C. (March 25, 2024) – Algot Kleen remains in the top-10 following Monday's second round play at the Hootie at Bulls Bay from Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C.
Kleen and Matty Dodd-Berry both posted a 2-under-par 70, but on a day when the leaders registered low scores, the 15th-ranked Buccaneers couldn't get anything going. Kleen remains tied for seventh at 3-under-par 141, while Dodd-Berry jumped five spots into a tie for 10th at 2-under-par 142.
The field is chasing New Mexico's Matthew Watkins as he captured the top individual spot at 7-under-par 137. Watkins tied for the lowest round of the day at 6-under 66. LSU's Connor Gaunt kept his spot at second place intact at 6-under-par 138, while three golfers are tied for third at 5-under-par 139.
As a team, the Bucs dropped two spots into a tie for fifth with South Carolina. Both programs totaled a 1-over 289 in round two and are at even-par 576 for the tournament.
New Mexico fired a 14-under 274 to jump No. 37 LSU as the 19th-ranked Lobos are at 16-under-par 560 through the first two rounds. LSU, who carded a 10-under 278, is two shots back at 14-under-par 562, while No. 33 Purdue made the biggest move on Monday. The Boilermakers shot 16-under 272 and jumped six teams into third place at 6-under-par 570.
After guiding the Blue & Gold on Sunday,
Mats Ege had a rough three-hole stretch that knocked him out of contention. Ege, who started the day with one birdie and 10 pars, played holes 12-thru-14 at five-over to finish with a 4-over 76. Ege is now tied for 34th at 2-over-par 146.
Remi Chartier also posted a 4-over 76 and is tied for 59th at 6-over-par 150.
Jenson Forrester, who played his last six holes at two-under, is tied for 56th at 5-over-par 149.
The Bucs will be paired with South Carolina and West Virginia in Tuesday's final round. The teams will the first to go out starting at 8 a.m.
