ETSU finishes seventh at Reynolds Lake Oconee

EATONTON, Ga. (Feb. 25, 2024) – Playing its first spring tournament of the season, the ETSU women's golf team concluded play at the Reynolds Lake Oconee on Sunday from  Great Waters in Eatonton, Ga.
 
Led by Brianna Castaldi and Sophie Bert, the Buccaneers jumped up two spots on the team leaderboard to finish seventh in the 14-team field. ETSU posted a three-day tournament score of 49-over-par 913 (304-310-299).
 
Tournament host Mercer led wire-to-wire to capture the team win. The Bears went low on Sunday at 8-under 280 to finish the tournament at 1-under-par 863 (294-289-280). Mercer won by 26 strokes over second-place Western Kentucky (+25) and 33 strokes over third-place Chattanooga (+32).
 
Castaldi led ETSU as she finished tied for 23rd at 11-over-par 227 (73-77-77), while Bert had the Bucs' top score on Sunday to jump 14 spots into a tie for 27th. Bert carded an even-par 72 in the finale to finish 12-over-par 228 (75-81-72) for the tournament.
 
Amber Thornton and Grace Chin both shot 3-over on Sunday and finished the tournament tied for 35th at 15-over-par 231.
 
Mercer's Mikayla Dubnik earned medalist honors after finishing at 4-under-par 212. Dubnik won by two shots over teammate Camilla Jarvela.
