Buccaneer redshirt freshman finishes tied for 30th
RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico (Feb. 13, 2024) – ETSU's
Jenson Forrester led the Buccaneer men's golf team in their spring opener as the redshirt freshman finished tied for 30th at the Puerto Rico Classic, which concluded play on Tuesday from the Grand Reserve Golf Club.
Forrester carded a 2-under 70 in the final round and finished the 54-hole tournament with a score of 6-under-par 210. For the tournament, Forrester collected 13 birdies and 34 pars.
Virginia's Bryan Lee and Purdue's Nels Surtani earned co-medalist honors after finishing at 15-under-par 201. Lee made a late charge on Tuesday as he posted a 9-under 63 to jump 19 spots for the win.
Georgia held on for the win as the 43rd-ranked Bulldogs won by three strokes over No. 13 Virginia. The Bulldogs finished the tournament at 42-under-par 822. The Cavaliers fired a 20-under 268 on Tuesday to place runner-up at 39-under-par 825 and No. 6 Tennessee finished third at 38-under-par 826.
The ninth-ranked Bucs finished 12th with a team score of 13-under-par 851.
ETSU returns to action March 4 when the Bucs travel to Pinehurst, N.C. for the Wake Forest Invitational.
