JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 12, 2024) – After playing six of its first seven matches away from home, the ETSU men's tennis team will return to Johnson City for a match against Gardner-Webb on Tuesday. First serve between the Buccaneers and Runnin' Bulldogs is set for 2 p.m.

ETSU is coming off a 4-1 loss at UNC Asheville last Friday. The loss to the Bulldogs moves the Bucs' record to 3-4 on the 2024 campaign. James Sim accounted for ETSU's point against Asheville with a 6-2, 6-3 win out of the No. 6 singles spot. The Bucs have played a challenging schedule to start this spring as their four losses (Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, New Mexico, UNC Asheville) have come against teams with a combined record of 24-6 (.800 winning percentage).

Gardner-Webb will make the trip to Johnson City with a perfect 6-0 record so far this spring. The Runnin' Bulldogs have knocked off Davidson, Queens (N.C.), Wingate, Belmont Abbey (twice) and Xavier and are coming off a share of the 2023 Big South Regular Season Championship.

The Bucs and Runnin' Bulldogs have clashed four times over the years. Tuesday's tilt will mark the first meeting between these two programs since the 2008 Atlantic Sun Semifinals. ETSU won that specific matchup, 4-0, and won the other three matches in the series by identical 7-0 scores.
