LAHAINA, Hawaii (Nov. 4, 2024) – Following three straight rounds of even-par or better, ETSU's
Kristian Bressum finished the fall season with a top-10 finish at the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational, as final round play concluded on Monday from Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course.
Bressum finished tied for eighth in the 123-player field with a 54-hole score of 11-under-par 202. The Buccaneer leader shot an even-par 71 in today's final round after carding two birdies, 15 pars and one double-bogey. For the tournament, Bressum registered one eagle, 12 birdies and 39 pars over the three-day, 54-hole event.
Oklahoma's Jaxon Dowell – playing as an individual – led wire-to-wire to earn medalist honors at 17-under-par 196. Dowell edged out teammate Clark Van Gaalen – also playing as an individual – by one stroke. Van Gaalen was one of four golfers to go low on Monday by posting a 7-under 64.
The second-ranked Sooners went on to win their second straight title in Hawaii as Oklahoma finished at 42-under-par 810. No. 32 Colorado finished runner-up at 36-under-par 816, while Kansas (-35), Indiana (-34) and No. 5 LSU (-33) rounded out the top five.
ETSU, who shot a 3-under 281 on Monday, placed 12th at 18-under-par 834.
Freshman
Gavin Tiernan led the Blue & Gold in the final round as he recorded a 3-under 68.
Yannick Malik,
Ben Carberry and
Joshua Pritchett all joined Bressum with an even-par 71 on Monday.
The Bucs now turn their attention to the spring season, which gets underway on Feb. 3 at Battle of Briar's Creek in Johns Island, S.C.
