ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (Jan. 19, 2024) – The ETSU men's tennis team will travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico this weekend for a pair of non-conference matches. ETSU will open the weekend with a neutral site match vs. Cal Poly on Saturday before taking on the host New Mexico on Sunday. The start times for this weekend's matches are set for 4 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.

ETSU's 2024 record currently stands at 0-2 after losses to No. 15 Wake Forest (6-1) and Vanderbilt (6-0). A highlight for the Bucs in the early going was Francisco Lamas being named the SoCon Player of the Week after winning his singles match at Wake Forest. Lamas notched a win over Jamieson Nathan in three sets, 6-2, 6-7 (3-7), 1-0 (13-11) in the No. 6 singles position.

Both Cal Poly and New Mexico will be playing their first matches of the spring season this weekend. Cal Poly went 7-12 a season ago, while the Lobos compiled a mark of 15-6.

Saturday's match will mark the first ever meeting between the Bucs and Mustangs. ETSU and New Mexico, meanwhile, have met in each of the last two seasons. The Buccaneers won both of those matches by scores of 4-2 and 5-2.
