JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 14, 2024) – The ETSU men's tennis team will open its 2024 spring schedule on Monday when it travels to take on No. 15 Wake Forest. First serve between the Buccaneers and Demon Deacons is set for 11 a.m.
The Bucs are coming off a season where they compiled a record of 12-14 overall and a 5-2 mark in SoCon play. ETSU won three straight matches in the SoCon Tournament by identical 4-0 scores to claim the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament where it faced Ohio State. Entering the spring season, the tandem of
Dimitri Badra and
Francisco Lamas were ranked No. 55 in the ITA's National Doubles Rankings.
Wake Forest enters the spring season ranked No. 15 in the country. The Demon Deacons have a trio of singles players and doubles team nationally ranked by the ITA as the spring season gets underway. Wake Forest is coming off its tenth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament last season and won 26 matches on the 2022-23 campaign.
ETSU and Wake Forest have met a total of 12 times since 2006. Wake Forest, which has won 12 matches, will clash with the Bucs for the first time since 2021.
