SOCON OPENERS
Saturday marks the 33rd SoCon opener for the Bucs … ETSU is 16-16 in the previous 32 SoCon openers, while the Bucs are 4-3 in SoCon openers since rejoining the league in 2016 … ETSU opened last year at The Citadel where the Bucs suffered a tough 20-17 in Charleston on Sept. 10, 2022 … This marks the third time since rejoining the conference in 2016 where ETSU is playing Samford in the conference opener … The Bucs won 24-17 in the spring opener in 2021 and then ETSU won 55-48 in overtime in the fall 2021 opener on Sept. 25.
BUCS IN THE FCS RANKINGS
Nate Brackett ranks eighth nationally in punting as he's averaging 45.1 yards per punt … Brackett's 70-yard punt against Carson-Newman is tied for the fifth-longest among FCS players this season … Chris Hope is 27th in solo tackles. (5.7), while Stephen Scott ranks 34th (9.0) and Hope is 48th (8.7) in total tackles … Isaiah McGaha is 43rd in sacks (0.67) and 31st in forced fumbles (0.33) … Khalil Anderson is 42nd in interceptions per game (0.3).
TEAM FCS RANKINGS
ETSU ranks eighth nationally in punt returns (19.83) and 18th fewest penalties (16) … The Blue & Gold are also 26th in first downs defense (60).
T0 30 AND BEYOND…
ETSU is 18-4 when scoring at least 30 points since restarting the program in 2015 … ETSU had won its last 13 games when scoring at least 30 points following the lone setback at Furman on Sept. 30, 2017, before falling to No. 11 Mercer, 55-33, No. 15 Samford 55-45 and Wofford 48-41.
PERSONAL MILESTONES
A pair of Buccaneers reached personal milestones last time out at Austin Peay as linebackers Zach West and Stephen Scott notched their 100th career tackles … Zach West landed right on the number with his two hits against the Govs, while Stephen Scott – who posted a career-high 12 tackles at Austin Peay – has 105 for his career … Max Evans is six tackles away from registering his 100th career tackle.
RED ZONE SUCCESS
Since the start of the 2016 season, ETSU is 218-of-255 (85%) in red zone scoring ... The Bucs have scored 1,255 points during these 255 trips (147 TDs/71 FGs) ... ETSU was 48-of-53 in 13 games in the 2021 season with 289 points scored - 36 touchdowns and 12 field goals.
HUZZIE REACHES THE 2K MARK
Speaking of personal milestones, ETSU redshirt senior wide receiver Will Huzie made history in the Bucs' win over Carson-Newman as he became just the third Buccaneer receiver to eclipse the 2,000 receiving yard mark for a career … Huzzie has now totaled 2,061 receiving yards in 41 career games with the Bucs … B.J. Adigun (1994-97) is the all-time Buccaneer leader with 2,802 receiving yards and Cecil Moore (1999-02) is second with 2,488 yards … Huzzie also has 156 receptions, which rank third all-time … Huzzie needs six catches to pass Moore for second and 17 catches to break B.J. Adigun's school record of 172 … In his 41 games played, Huzzie has posted 17 touchdown receptions … The Duluth, Ga. native needs two more touchdown catches to move into the top three Buccaneer leaders and 10 to break Adigun's record of 26.

- After opening the season with a 69-14 win over Shorter, Samford has lost its last three games and sit 1-3 overall and 0-2 in SoCon play
