Buccaneer junior fired a 4-under 68 to lead by one in Colorado

WOLCOTT, Colo. (Sept. 25, 2033) – ETSU junior Alex Crafton (Lake Mary, Fla.) shot a 4-under-par 68 to hold the first-round lead at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic on Monday from the Red Sky Golf Club – Fazio Course.

The Bucs, who have a history of winning the event by capturing the team title in 2021, saw Crafton put together a stellar opening round out west. After parring her first four holes to start the day, Crafton birdied four of her next six holes to make her charge up the leaderboard. Following three straight pars from No. 2-4, Crafton went birdie-bogey before finishing with three more pars to end the day with a 68. 

Crafton led the 89-player field in par-4 scoring at two-under, while her five birdies were tied for the third-most on Monday. 

Crafton will take a one-shot lead into Tuesday's second round as UIC's Dasa Urbankova, Pepperdine's Lion Higo and Arkansas State's Charlotte Menager are tied for second at 3-under 69. A group of five more golfers are tied for fifth at 2-under 70. 

Amber Thornton, (Canberra, Australia) sits tied for 25th at 2-over-par 74. 

As a team, is in 12th at 14-over-par 302 following the opening round. 

Pepperdine was the only program in the 16-team field to finish below par as the Waves are in first-place at 3-under-par 285. Arkansas State is six shots back in second and High Point is in third at 6-over-par 294. 

The Bucs will begin second round play Tuesday at 12 p.m. ET. ETSU is grouped with Wofford, Boise State and Murray State.
