Bucs place fourth at Visit Knoxville Collegiate
LOUDON, Tenn. (Sept. 10, 2023) – Mats Ege (Kristiansand, Norway) recorded a top-10 finish, while the ETSU men's golf team finished fourth as final round play concluded at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate on Sunday from Tennessee National in Loudon, Tenn.
Ege, who registered his 14th career top-10 finish, tied for sixth over the 54-hole tournament at 6-under-par 204. The Buccaneer leader strung together three straight sub-par rounds as he totaled a 3-under 67 in Sunday's finale. Ege tallied 38 pars and 11 birdies over the weekend, while he had a scoring average of 3.83 on the par-4s.
As a unit, the Blue & Gold finished fourth at 11-under-par 829. ETSU generated the second-lowest score on Sunday as they carded a 7-under 273.
Ole Miss went low with an 18-under 262 but they still didn't catch Tennessee for the team win. The Vols held on for the wire-to-wire victory by one stroke as Tennessee finished at 25-under-par 815 at its home tournament. Mississippi State placed third at 13-under-par 827.
Remi Chartier (Montreal, Canada) had a stellar finish to the tournament on Sunday. Chartier fired a 4-under 66 to climb 13 spots up the leaderboard and finish tied for 17th at 1-under-par 209. The Canadian exploded out of the gates with four birdies over his first five holes en route to totaling seven on the day.
Jenson Forrester (Wolverhampton, England), playing his first collegiate tournament, placed 21st at even-par 210, while Algot Kleen (Fiskebackskil, Sweden) and Matty Dodd-Berry (Wirral, England) both finished tied for 23rd at 2-over-par 212.
Mississippi State's Hunter Logan earned medalist honors as he posted a score of 11-under-par 199. North Florida's Nick Gabrelcik and Ole Miss' Michael La Sasso both finished runner-up at 10-under-par 200.
The Bucs are back in action in two weeks when ETSU heads to Chicago for The Windon Memorial, which gets underway Monday, Sept. 25.
