SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 7, 2023) – ETSU senior distance runner Genevieve Schwarz (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) was named Southern Conference Track Athlete of the Month for March as the league office announced its award winners on Friday.

Schwarz, who received her first SoCon monthly accolade, won a pair of gold medals in ETSU’s outdoor opener at the Charlotte 49er Classic. The Oak Ridge, Tenn. native won the 800m with a time of 2:10.92, while capturing the win in the 1500m as she clocked in at 4:30.90.

One week later, at the Raleigh Relays, Schwarz set a season best in the 800m with a time of 2:10.67.

Schwarz is the first Buccaneer female student-athlete to earn a SoCon monthly honor in outdoor track and field since Katrina Seymour won the award in April 2017.

The Bucs are currently competing in the Tennessee Invitational in Knoxville.
