CLEMSON, S.C. (Dec. 22, 2023) – The ETSU women's basketball team saw its six-game winning streak end on Friday as the Bucs fell at Clemson, 73-50. With Friday's loss, the Buccaneers are now 10-4 on the season, while Clemson improves to 8-5.
Nevaeh Brown led the way for ETSU on Friday with 20 points on a 9-for-16 shooting day from the field. It was her second straight 20-plus point performance and her third of the season. Brown also added six rebounds and four assists.
Journee McDaniel also had a good afternoon totaling 12 points after going 4-for-5 from 3-point range. As a team, the Bucs went 8-for-17 from beyond the arc on Friday, which matches its best 3-point shooting effort the season (Dec. 14 vs. UNC Asheville).
The Bucs jumped out to an early lead on the Tigers on Friday. Brown picked up where she left off on Wednesday, when she netted a career-high 25 points, scoring 10 points in the opening quarter. With Brown and the rest of the Bucs playing well, ETSU held a 16-10 lead with 4:06 to go in the first. However, Clemson would right the ship and close the stanza on an 8-0 run to regain the lead, 18-16, after one quarter.
Clemson kept the pressure on ETSU in the second quarter. The Tigers scored 11 of the first 13 points in the quarter to build a 13-point lead on the Bucs, 31-18, with a little over four minutes to go before halftime. Brown,

Courtney Moore all hit shots in the final minutes to get the Tiger lead back to single digits before the break. Clemson would wrap up the first half with a 5-0 run to grow its lead back out to 14 points, 39-25, at the half.
The Tigers kept things rolling when the third quarter began. Clemson nearly doubled up the Bucs (16 to 9) in the third quarter. That effort saw the Clemson advantage grow to 21 points, 55-34, heading to the fourth and final quarter.
After scoring 18 points combined in the second and third quarters, ETSU bounced back to score 16 in the fourth. McDaniel knocked down a trio of 3-pointers in the frame to pace the Bucs. However, the lead that Clemson built through the middle quarters stood up as they finished off the 73-50 win over ETSU.
ETSU will close out 2023 with game on December 30 against Coker. Tip-off for that game is set for 2 p.m. from Brooks Gym.
