JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 2, 2023) – As we approach the start of the basketball season, the ETSU Athletic Department will be releasing "Getting to Know" videos for the Buccaneer men's and women's basketball teams.

The second player interview is Buccaneer guard
Quimari Peterson.
Peterson is a 6'1", 185-pound guard who transferred to ETSU from John A. Logan College.
Peterson spent the 2022-23 season at John A. Logan College in Cartersville, Ill. where he averaged 13.5 points, 4.7 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game. He totaled 163 assists to just 35 turnovers in 2022-23 for the Vols. To go with the impressive 4.7 assist/turnover ratio, he shot 53 percent from the floor (187-354), 39 percent from long distance (48-123) and 73 percent at the free throw line (49-67).

Peterson played a key role in the Vols' success this past 2022-23 season as the point guard led John A. Logan to the program's first ever NJCAA DI men's basketball national championship.
The team went 33-2 – winning its last 31 games – and going unbeaten (16-0) in conference play. Peterson Averaged 14.5 points, 5.0 assists and 4.5 rebounds in the NJCAA Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan. He opened the tournament with 19 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds in the Vols' second round win over Monroe College, while he finished with 15 points, five assists and four rebounds in the national title win against reigning champion Northwest Florida State.
Peterson Was among the national leaders in assist/turnover ratio (4.7) and in total assists (163). He led his team in field goals made and was second in scoring. Peterson scored in double figures 24 times, including eight games with at least 20 points and a season-high 28 points against Southwestern Illinois College on Feb. 25. He dished out at least five assists 18 times and grabbed at least five rebounds 16 times.
ETSU men's basketball defeated UVA Wise 105-55 on Monday night in an exhibition game. The Bucs open the 2023-24 season against King on Monday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. in Freedom Hall.
