SANTA CLARA, Calif. (Nov. 16, 2023) – Spikemark unveiled its 2023 men's golf fall rankings on Wednesday, and ETSU was ranked No. 9 nationally, while
Mats Ege was listed No. 7 and
Algot Kleen was ranked No. 32.
The Bucs, who went 66-6-1 during the fall campaign, averaged 60.05 total points in the rankings list. ETSU recorded two wins and finished in the top-five in all five of its fall tournaments. This marked the first time since 1995-96 where the Blue & Gold won multiple tournaments in the fall. ETSU won the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate and finished tied for first at the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate.
North Carolina was ranked first with 109.09 points, followed by Auburn (108.23), Vanderbilt (89.86), Washington (82.94), Ole Miss (74.88), Arizona State (71.50), Tennessee (70.26) and Arkansas (67.63). The Bucs were ahead of Virginia (54.86), who rounded out the top-10.
Individually, Ege – who had one win and three top-3 finishes in the fall – was ranked No. 7 with 55.52 points. Kleen recorded one win and two top-3 finishes en route to being ranked No. 32 with 33.92 points.
Ege shot below par in all 15 rounds this fall as he captured the win at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate and finished with a runner-up at the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate. At the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, Ege began play with a tournament, course and school record 10-under 62. Ege finished the fall season with a scoring average of 67.53.
Kleen won the prestigious Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate with an 11-under-par 205 and finished second at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. Kleen finished the fall campaign with a 68.93 scoring average.
Alabama's Nick Dunlap was ranked No. 1 with 103.14 points, followed by Georgia Tech's Christo Lamprecht (86.07 points), North Carolina's David Ford (64.78) and Maxwell Ford (62.57), Vanderbilt's Gordon Sargent (58.48) and UCLA's Luke Powell (58.04). Ole Miss' Michael La Sasso followed Ege at No. 8 with 55.43 points, while Arizona State's Preston Summerhays (54.32) and Kentucky's Alex Goff (50.88) capped off the top-10 players.
ETSU was joined by Texas, Vanderbilt, North Carolina, UCLA, Georgia Tech, Auburn and Washington to have multiple golfers ranked in the top-35 nationally.

The Bucs return to action in February when they head to San Juan for the Puerto Rico Classic, which begins Feb. 11.
