Dimitri Badra claims SoCon Player of the Week honors
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 8, 2022) – Just two days after the first win of the season, ETSU Men’s Tennis standout sophomore Dimitri Badra (Maracay, Venezuela) has earned his first Southern Conference Player of the Week honors, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Badra finished the week with a 2-0 overall record, including 1-0 in both doubles and singles play. Badra paired with teammate Francisco Lamas (Maracay, Venezuela) in doubles play to kick the event off with a 6-2 win over Nicholas McKinney and Sebastian Dominguez in the No. 2 doubles slot. Later in the match with ETSU leading the Blue Hose, 2-0, Badra pulled the Bucs one point closer to winning the match with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph over Javier Matos in the No. 3 singles position. ETSU would go on to defeat Presbyterian, 6-1, for the first win of the young season.
ETSU (1-3) will return to action on Friday when the Bucs travel to Bloomington, Ind. for a showdown with Indiana (3-1) at 5 p.m.
