Shelby Whalen, MS, joined ETSU Athletics in July 2024. She is currently a psychology extern with the Institute for Integrated Behavioral Health working within the Athletic Department and is also a fourth-year graduate student in the PhD in Clinical Psychology program.
Shelby earned her Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Western Kentucky University (WKU) in 2021 and her Bachelor of Science in Psychological Sciences from WKU in 2019.
She brings several years of clinical experience, including roles as a behavioral health consultant at ETSU Health Family Medicine in Bristol, TN, and as a behavioral health therapist at the University Health Center at ETSU, where she worked with college students and university employees. Shelby's clinical interests focus on health psychology, and her research interests include exploring transdiagnostic risk factors underlying substance and behavioral risky behaviors and addiction among college students.Â
