2021-22 (R-Freshman): Earned a spot on the All-SoCon Doubles First Team and the Singles Second Team … Named February SoCon Player of the Month … Posted the best singles record on the team with a 24-6 mark, including 16-1 in dual matches to lead the Bucs … Concluded the season on a 16-match winning streak and was a perfect 7-0 in league play … Posted a 16-10 record in doubles matches on the year, including 10-5 when playing alongside partner Frazier Rengifo … Finished 12-6 in dual doubles matches during the spring season … Posted five doubles wins that resulted in doubles-clinching victories, while also earning two match-clinching wins on the year against Indiana (Feb. 11) and UNCG (April 1).

2020-21 (Freshman): Named to the SoCon Honor Roll … Awarded the SoCon Commissioner’s Medal … Tabbed as an ITA Scholar Athlete … Named to the SoCon All-Freshman squad … Turned in a strong freshman campaign with a 6-5 singles record, primarily from the back end of the lineup … Finished 9-8 in doubles play, including 8-5 when partnered with fellow freshman Thiago Pernas … Clinched his first career match in a 5-2 win over Charlotte.

High School: Comes to ETSU as the No. 1 ranked junior in the country of Ecuador and currently ranked as the No. 95 junior player in the World ITF Junior Rankings … Zabala reached as high as No. 79 in the junior rankings in February … The Ecuador native had a strong doubles season in 2020, reaching the final match in both the Junior World Tennis J1 Cuenca – Ecuador and the ITF J1 Asuncion – Paraguay … He also climbed into the quarterfinals in singles action in tournaments in Ecuador and Brazil … In 2019, Zabala rose to form with three singles championships and two doubles championships … Claimed the singles title in: ITF J5 Guayaquil – Ecuador, Crown Plaza ITF J4 Cup – El Salvador and the Galileo ITF J4 – Guatemala … In addition to his singles success, Zabala won the doubles title at the ITF J3 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and the Crown Plaza ITF J4 Cup in El Salvador … In 2018, Zabala won two singles titles and two doubles titles in South America on the junior circuit … His singles wins included the Cuscatlan ITF J5 – El Salvador and the ITF J5 in Guatemala … Meanwhile, Zabala won the doubles title at Cuscatlan ITF J5 – El Salvador and at the ITF J5 in Panama … Represented Ecuador and South America in the World Tennis Cup in 2016 and later achieved the Bronze Medal in the South American Cup in 2016 … In the South American Cup, Zabala led the Ecuadorian team as the No. 1 player to the world tennis cup.
