Williams places fifth in women’s 200 meter dash final; Valls competes strongly in day’s four heptathlon events

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Feb. 7, 2014) – The ETSU men’s and women’s track & field teams turned in productive day one performances at the Samford Multi & Invitational on Friday inside the Birmingham Crossplex.

On the men’s side, junior Evaristo Valls (Elche, Spain) competed in each of the four heptathlon events on Friday; highlighted by gaining a sixth-place standing with a 6.38 meter leap in the men’s long jump.

Action at the Samford Multi & Invitational will pick back up on Saturday morning with heptathlon events, the men’s and women’s long jump, and the men’s 60 meter hurdle prelims at 9 a.m. Competition at the Samford Multi & Invitational will conclude with the men’s and women’s 4x400 meter relay which is set to launch at 5:40 p.m.
