CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 17, 2010) - Four Buccaneer track and field athletes captured gold Saturday afternoon while competing in the Charlotte Invitational at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Facility.

On the men's side, Duronal Monal (Belle Glade, Fla.), Jarrod Burton (Bastian, Va.) and Ben Ronoh (Sotik, Kenya) took home first-place honors in their respective events, while local standout Jasmine Foster (Johnson City, Tenn.) won the shot put title on the women's side.

In the 100m, Monal sprinted his way to the top in the 27-man field after clocking in with a personal best of 10.27. Despite cramping up in the 200m, Monal also posted his fastest time this season, finishing second with a mark of 20.95.

Meanwhile, Ronoh was also busy making noise in the steeplechase. Ronoh, who was making his season debut in the event, turned in the top time with a mark of 9:35.92 on Saturday.

In the throws, Burton blasted the 15-man field in the hammer, as his heave of 172-10 was over 11 feet further than his nearest competitor (Jason Roberts, 161-10). Burton also finished second in the shot put after letting one soar 49-05 (15.06m).

Rounding things out was Foster's best finish in the women's shot put. Foster, who moved up to third in the conference standings with a toss of 41-11.50 (12.79m), eased her way past Campbell's Jessica Dunston on Saturday. Foster's toss was over two feet longer than the Lady Camel thrower.

The Bucs now look to carry this positive momentum into next weekend's USC Upstate Invite, which will be contested on April 23-24.
