MACON, Ga. (April 21, 2010) - Last weekend at the Charlotte Invitational, junior thrower Matt Baum (Frederick, Md.) set a new school record in the javelin, while senior sprinter Duronal Monal (Belle Glade, Fla.) posted a personal best in the 100m, lifting the Buccaneer athletes to a sweep in the Atlantic Sun Athlete of the Week awards on Wednesday afternoon.

Baum, who was the top collegiate competitor to place in the javelin over the weekend, etched his name into Buccaneer record books after letting one soar 190-10 (58.17m) - giving him the top spot in the conference standings by over 12 feet. Baum's mark beat Josh Artau's nine-year-old mark which was 190-03 (58.00m).

Meanwhile, on the track, Monal joined Baum as one of the four Buccaneer athletes to win gold at Charlotte this past Saturday. In the 100m, Monal sprinted his way to the top in the 27-man field after clocking in with a personal best of 10.27. Monal's time also placed him 10th in the country and seventh in the region. Then, despite cramping up in the 200m, Monal also posted a season best time in the event after finishing second with a mark of 20.95.

This marks the first time Baum has received the weekly honor, while it's the second of the season for Monal.

ETSU returns to action this weekend when the Bucs compete at the USC Upstate Invite on Friday and Saturday.
