GAINESVILLE, Fla. (April 5, 2008) - The ETSU men's and women's relay teams performed very well against some tough competition Saturday afternoon at the Florida Relays, but the majority of the final day was washed out as afternoon storms cancelled the remainder of events.

The ETSU men's 4x100-meter relay team of Mike James (Palm Bay, Fla.), Josh Cloyd (Telford, Tenn.), Zack Titman (Damascus, Va.) and Duronal Monal (Belle Glade, Fla.) strung together a strong effort on Saturday. The men finished a respectable 11th overall with a time of 41.20.

"I am very pleased as this was the first time the guys had a chance to compete," added associate head coach Michelle Byrne. "This is definitely a good start for us and hopefully we can build off our performance."

On the women's side, Jenny Knox (Connelly Springs, N.C.), Christin Zink (Herndon, Va.), Jasmine Ingram (Frederick, Md.) and Vicki Currie (Dumfries, Scotland) finished 10th in the 1600 sprint medley. The foursome beat out Maryland and Clemson's talented group with an impressive time of 4:05.95.

"The girls ran really very solid today," added Byrne. "Zink stepped in and did a great job filling in for Judy Johnson (Knoxville), and overall the team ran well."

Unfortunately, the men's 4x400-meter relay team and sophomore Kenneth Rotich (Nairobi, Kenya) could not compete as rains flooded the rest of the track meet. Rotich was scheduled to run the 5000m.

The ETSU track and field team will now gear up for next weekend's Sea Relays and Furman Invitational. The Bucs will head to Knoxville Friday for the relays, while remainder of the athletes will compete at Furman on Saturday.
