Vernon Places Third in 55 meters, Truman Places Fifth in Long Jump at Appalachian Invitational

BOONE, N.C. (Feb. 1, 2004) - East Tennessee State junior Chantelle Vernon (Markham, Ontario) took third in the 55 meters with a time of 7.07, while senior Kristin Truman (Johnson City, Tenn.) took fifth place in the long jump with a mark of 5.49m at the Appalachian Invitational held this weekend at ASU's Holmes Center. Truman also competed in the 55 meters recording a time of 7.57, and in the high jump with a mark of 1.43 at the invitational. Also competing for the Bucs this weekend was senior Chad Hyder (Kingsport, Tenn.), who finished tied for ninth in the shot put with a distance of 14.16m. Up next on the Buccaneers schedule is the Virginia Tech Challenge which will take place in Blacksburg, Va. From Feb. 13 thru 14.
