ETSU Tennis returns home to host USC Upstate

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 4, 2014) - The ETSU men's and women's tennis teams will continue conference play Saturday, April 5 as they host USC Upstate. The women's squad will take the court at 11:00 a.m., followed by the men's team at approximately 2:00 p.m.

WEEKEND SCHEDULE

Saturday March 22

ETSU women vs. USC Upstate at 11:00 a.m.

ETSU men vs. USC Upstate at approximately 2:00 p.m.

MEN'S PREVIEW

The 61st-ranked Buccaneers (9-8, 4-0) will enter Saturday's match riding a six-match win streak, having not suffered a setback since Feb. 23 versus No. 51 UNC-Wilmington.

ETSU is currently tied with No. 71 North Florida for first place in the Atlantic Sun standings. The Bucs' match versus North Florida was cancelled last weekend due to severe rain in Jacksonville, Fla.

Senior Roger Ordeig (Gurb, Spain) has won a team-best six consecutive singles matches, while sophomore Sebastian Yllera (Cinco Saltos, Argentina) has won five consecutive matches in singles play.

Meanwhile, freshmen David Biosca (Sant Fruitos De Bage, Spain) has paired with Ordeig to win five consecutive doubles matches.

ETSU finished the month of march with a perfect 5-0 record.

The USC Upstate Spartans (7-11, 2-3) had their three-match win streak snapped last weekend, falling to North Florida, 5-2, on the road.

USC Upstate is tied with Mercer for fifth place in the A-Sun.

WOMEN'S PREVIEW 

Going 6-1 during the month of March, the Buccaneers (9-8, 4-1) will return home for the first time since March 15.

ETSU will enter Saturday's match coming off a loss at league-leading North Florida. The Bucs are currently second in the league standings.

Junior Jessica Brumit (Elizabethton, Tenn.) has won a team-best six consecutive matches in singles play, while teaming with senior Giulia Andreazza (Balneario Camboriu, Brazil) to win four straight matches at doubles.

The Spartans (2-16, 1-4) have lost 11 of their past 12 matches.
