BLACKSBURG, Va. (Feb. 5, 2010) - After a two week layoff, the ETSU women's tennis team returns to action this weekend as they travel to 54-ranked Virginia Tech for a noon contest Saturday inside the Burrows-Burleston Tennis Center in Blacksburg, Va.

ETSU (1-1) enters the match after splitting its opening two contests back in January. The Lady Bucs opened their season with a strong 7-0 win over defending Ohio Valley Conference champion Eastern Kentucky, while narrowly missing an enormous upset against 10th-ranked instate-rival Tennessee a day later.

Despite its 4-3 loss to the Lady Vols, ETSU has played well this spring as sophomore Paula Jaime (Madrid, Spain) - who earned only the third ranked singles win in school history at UT- junior Andra Voinea (Brasov, Romania) and sophomore transfer Diana Navrostska (Lviv, Ukraine) all sit with unbeaten singles records at 2-0.

Virginia Teah (2-1) welcomes ETSU after having a successful opening week to its 2010 schedule. The Hokies took two out of three contests during play at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Athens, Ga. Virginia Tech picked up wins against Elon and 51st-ranked Georgia State, before falling to host and 10th-ranked Georgia.

Individually, for the Hokies, Yasmin Hamza and Shannon Betts lead the way after currently having 3-0 singles records this spring.
