Lady Bucs welcome A-Sun rival Kennesaw State for home opener

BRISTOL, Tenn. (March 4, 2010) - After winning its last three matches the ETSU women's tennis team opens both its home and Atlantic Sun Conference season with a 6 p.m. contest Friday against league rival Kennesaw State inside the Bubble at the Bristol Country Club in Bristol, Tenn.

 

The Lady Bucs (4-2) welcome the Owls to town after winning both their contests last week. ETSU dropped former Southern Conference foe Davidson 6-1 last Friday, then made quick work of Wofford on the road by the same 6-1 score, Monday.

 

Individually, reigning Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year Yevgeniya Stupak (Kyiv, Ukraine) and sophomore Paula Jaime (Madrid, Spain) leads ETSU into conference play. Stupak has won two out of her last three matches, while Jaime currently leads all A-Sun competitors with a perfect 6-0 singles record.

 

Kennesaw State (5-4) travels to the Tri-Cities after falling to Campbell in league action at home last weekend, 4-3. KSU also lost its first A-Sun matchup of the season against USC Upstate February 19, 4-3.

 

Individually, for the Owls Therese Lagerkvist sits at 8-2 in singles action. The first-year freshman has won her last eight matches with the majority of her starts at the No. 5 position.
