Women's tennis wraps up play at ITA Regional

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (October 15, 2005) -  The ETSU women's tennis team wrapped up their weekend competition at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships at the University of North Carolina on Saturday. 

 

"I'm very happy with the way we played today and I'm looking forward to our last fall tournament in a few weeks," said head women's tennis coach Steve Brooks.  "It's been a good fall and we hope to make it a good spring."

 

Competing in the round of sixteens, Masha Ilina (Kyiv, Russia) lost to Jenna Long of UNC, 6-3, 6-2.  Long is currently ranked 108th in the country. 

 

In consolation singles, Sandie Knight (Adamstown, Australia) defeated Blackly Offet of Wake Forest, 6-4, 6-4 before falling in the next round to Christian Tara of Wake Forest, 6-1, 6-1.  

Tara Byrne (Johnson City, Tenn.) lost to Sierra Poske of Wake Forest, 7-6(5), 7-5.
