Johnson City, Tenn.-- The East Tennessee State women's golf and tennis teams were in tournament action on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Buc golfers were in final round play of the Radford Lady Highlander Invitational from Draper Valley Country Club in Pulaski, Va. ETSU shot a final round 327 to finish with a 12th place score of 642. Individual scores will not be available from the course until Wednesday morning.
The Buc men's and women's tennis teams were in action in the T. Rowe Price ITA Collegiate Clay Court Championships from Baltimore, Md. Tuesdays singles action was postponed until Wednesday due to inclement weather, but the ETSU doubles teams were able to get in their matches this afternoon.
The ETSU women's doubles team of junior Mami Inoue and senior Paty Vegawere on fire in the qualifying rounds, defeating Bielewic/Pashdanathan from Maryland-Baltimore County (8-6) and Campbell/Martin from American (8-3) before falling to the #2 seeded team of DeRoo/Radu from Mississippi (8-1). Inoue and Vega will begin singles qualifying matches Wednesday morning.
Two Buc men's tennis duos were in action on Tuesday. The team of senior Gustavo Gomez and sophomore Roberto Fernandez defeated Duana/Huge from Minnesota 8-5. Senior Juan Yannuzzi and sophomore Marcos Pavlovich were defeated 8-3 by Petrone/Cheatwood from the North Carolina. Gomez and Fernandez advance to the Thursdays main draw.
