Johnson City, Tenn. -- The East Tennessee State University women's tennis team swept by Wofford, 5-0, this afternoon at Memorial Center. The win improved ETSU to 14-4, 8-1 in the Southern Conference. Today's win was the seventh straight for the Bucs and the 12th in the last 13 matches.
The Bucs were dominate throughout the match as the visiting Terriers were able to win only six games throughout the match. The teams did not play doubles.
Today's match was the regular-season finale for the Bucs. ETSU has clinched the #2 seed in the upcoming Southern Conference Championship and secured a first-round bye. ETSU will play the winner of the match between the seventh and 10th seeds on April 28.
"It was good to get a win after a short turnaround from yesterday's match at UNC Greensboro," said ETSU Head Coach Tom Russ. "Yesterday was a long day with the rain delay and then we didn't get back to campus until early this morning. It was nice to see the team come back strong. We are looking forward to next weekend's Southern Conference Championships. We are playing very well right now."
