JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (July 26, 2014) – Incoming ETSU women’s soccer player Garazi Murua-Astorquiza (Getxo, Spain) and the Spanish U-19 team knocked off host Norway, 2-0, Thursday, July 24 to advance to the final of the UEFA Women’s Under 19 Championship.

Murua-Astorquiza, who will join ETSU this coming season, has started on the back line in each of Spain’s four matches en route to the final. Spain will take on the Netherlands in the championship final Sunday, July 27 in Oslo, Norway.

No strangers to international success, Spain is making its third UEFA U-19 final appearance. Spain won the championship final in 2004, and finished runners-up in 2012.

Since falling to Ireland, 1-0, in the first game of group play, Spain have won three consecutive games, beating Sweden, England, and Norway, each by a 2-0 score.

Murua-Astorquiza has played an integral part in Spain’s recent run of success, helping anchor a defensive unit that has allowed just two shots on goal in the past three contests.

ETSU Women’s Soccer Head Coach Adam Sayers announced the signing of Murua-Astorquiza earlier this month. Read more about Murua-Astorquiza here: http://bit.ly/1zg3q2b.
